DORIS MAE “COOKIE” COOK:  June 23, 1931 – Sept. 3, 2025

Doris “Cookie” Mae Cook, age 94, passed away September 3, 2025, in Norton Shores, MI. She was born June 23, 1931, to Sidney and Daisy (Johnson) Cook and was a life-long resident of Muskegon, MI. When she graduated from high school, she went on to work for Hackley Bank in the Trust Department. Doris later retired after working for Bel-Tone. Doris enjoyed spending time with her companion of over 40 years, Barbara Fearnley, making many memories together. Doris was an avid baseball player, playing for the All-American Girls Baseball Player League. She and her sister, Donna Cook were inducted into the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed bowling with the Greater Muskegon Woman’s Bowling League.  In the summertime, you could find her at the cottage in Twin Lake with Barbara; and they enjoyed spending time there with family and friends. She also loved being “Aunt Doris” and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Bruce (Pam) Cook; sister, Jackie (Gordon) Bennett; 3 sisters-in-law, Darlene Cook, Carol Cook, and Marian Cook; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; special companion Barbara Fearnley; 5 brothers, Paul (Barbara) Cook, Bill (Gerri) Cook, Ray Cook, Bob Cook, and Marvin Cook; 4 sisters Donna Cook, Marian Lord, Joan (Jerry) Smith, and Joyce (Lawrence) Lee.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Muskegon Sports Hall of Fame.

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
